Philly Beer Week 2011 Has Begun!

Beginning last night, and running through June 12, Philadelphia will be host to Philly Beer Week. A week long exploration of beer throughout the country, and the world, Philadelphia will be host to dozens of breweries and beer-related events.

Most areas of the city are represented, as are a few of the suburban locations. I would recommend visiting the website: and look at the Events, Venues, or Breweries tabs to narrow down the hundreds of choices.

Some of the suburban locations on the list include: Capone’s in East Norriton, Iron Abbey in Willow Grove, Via Marconi in Towamencin and PJ Whelihan’s on Route 202 near Montco.

I personally am looking forward to tasting Deschutes’ Abyss at Capone’s on Wednesday, Russian River Temptation at Via Marconi today and Flying Fish Exit 16 at Capone’s on Thursday. There is an “unofficial” Beer Week Event at the Blue Dog Chalfont on Friday where Founders will have Kaiser Curmudgeon on tap… have to taste that!

All-in-all, it promises to be a pretty exciting week.
